NoTouch Center ships as an all-in-one easy-to-install Windows application (or even preinstalled inside the NComputing Virtual Appliance). If you want to install NoTouch Center on a Windows system and not use the Virtual Appliance, this article is for you. All you need to take care of is that you have administrative privileges on the system you want to install NoTouch Center on. Install NoTouch Center only on a clean and newly-installed Windows system. Make sure no other third-party applications are installed that could affect NoTouch Center operation. If you can, assign the host name or just a DNS alias "tcmgr" to the system where NoTouch Center will be installed (the "tcmgr" host name will assure that client devices will find it automatically).

NoTouch Center Windows application is not supported and not available from NComputing.

Installing NoTouch Center is very easy. One could say, "it's a matter of clicking on 'Next' a few times".. Well, let's have a look...

Installation
Run the downloaded file Stratodesk-NoTouch-Center-XY.EXE and you will be presented a language selection window.

Most people will be fine with English, and note that this only refers to the installer language. Afterwards, NoTouch Center can still be used in other language, if available.

Afterwards the actual installation process is started in a well-known wizard-style:

After that, the system will show the Stratodesk EULA (End User License Agreement). It is important to read and understand the enduser license agreement between you and Statodesk. Click on "Next", if you agree.

Again after that you can enter a path where NoTouch Center should be installed. We highly recommend to accept the default value.

After that you can select which components to install. If you plan to use a third-party database system (MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL - not the included one), have already created a database (some call it "tablespace"), have a user account and password with administrative privileges inside this database ready, then you can deselect MySQL (You will be prompted to enter database connection information on first start of NoTouch Center). You will certainly find this article interesting should you indeed plan on using a 3rd-party/external database system: Database configuration

Most people will use the bundled MySQL database we suppose. We highly recommend to install NoTouch Center as service; deselecting this option is not advised.

On the next screen you can select the appropriate Start Menu group for the NoTouch Center icons. Again, most people are fine with the default value.

The installer will now unpack its contents to the selected installation directory, effectively installing NoTouch Center to the host system. Furthermore the installer will add some rules to Windows Firewall to allow NoTouch Center operation (incoming TCP ports 8080 and 8443, outgoing UDP port 1500).

After that you are presented the friendly note that NoTouch Center has been successfully installed. We recommend to have NoTouch Center started right now, which means the installer will start the NoTouch Center service now saving you the time to do it manually. The first start takes a little bit longer since the system has to some internal setup tasks.

The system will now try to open a web browser and point it to http://localhost:8080/. Certain security settings may prevent this; or even you may want to use the browser on a different machine. In any case, start a browser and point it to the host name or ip address where NoTouch Center has been installed, with port number 8080, such as http://tcmgr.mycompany.com:8080/

Your browser window should then look like this:

If impatient, use account name "admin" and password "admin (without quotes) to log in and explore. We suggest to read our Short introduction (NTC) first - this article explains, short but precise, how to use NoTouch Center and how to connect NoTouch Center and client devices.

Troubleshooting
NTC installation is so easy that there doesn't seem to be anything that could go wrong. However, when having problems, here are a few tips:

* Port in use. We strongly suggest to install NTC only on a "clean" system without other third-party tools. Another - already running - program may also use port 8080, preventing NTC to even start. In this case we suggest to reconsider our advise to install NTC on a clean system.

* Windows-Firewall. In case you can't connect from an other host, there could be an issue with the Windows firewall, even though the installer tries to set everything up. Make sure incoming TCP ports 8080 and 8443 and outgoing UDP port 1500 are allowed.

* Mysterious installer errors. Maybe the file was not downloaded correctly? Compare the MD5 checksums!
