Network Manager
NoTouch does - out of the box - support both:
- System administrators predefining network configuration
- End users connecting to wireless networks on their own
In general you will be fine with the methods described in the Wireless LAN article.
!!! "Network Manager" has been EOLed early 2015. It may still provided as a courtesy, but PLEASE do not contact support with question about this, it is END-OF-LIFE!!!
The following information is kept for older images only.
NoTouch comes with the "Network Manager", module that allows end users to configure WiFi connections themselves, much like they would on a Windows PC or Mac. This is an alternative to the method of having a system administrator predefining allowed network connections, which is also supported by NoTouch.
We strongly suggest to stay with regular, pre-configured WiFis plus user based WiFi configuration, and use Network Manager only when absolutely necessary. Please see the article about Wireless LAN for more information about how to use WiFi or wireless LAN in general. The Network Manager is based on the well-known open-source software "wicd".
